Wrought iron, due to its excellent ductility, toughness, and corrosion resistance, has a wide range of engineering and decorative applications. Though largely replaced by mild steel in structural applications, it is still preferred in situations where corrosion resistance and ornamental quality are important.

  • Lamps, Gates, and Furniture – Used in artistic and ornamental designs.


5. Industrial Equipment

  • Agricultural Implements – Ploughshares, harrows, and other tools were made from wrought iron.

  • Boiler and Engine Components – Parts that require good toughness and corrosion resistance.


6. Advantages in Applications

  • High ductility and toughness – absorbs shocks and vibrations.
